This may not be interesting to anyone else, but I wanted to record it so I would remember the experience.
I was scheduled to be induced to have Bryce on September 16th. The hospital said they would call anytime after 5:30 in the morning depending on how much room they had at the hospital. They called around 6:20 and we arrived at the hospital just before 7 am. I was in a bed at 7:00 and hooked up to a monitor, answered questions and at 8:10 I had an IV of saline and Pitocin was started at a level 4. I was still only dilated to a 3 (had been that way since my last appointment the previous week.) At 8:30, Dr. Savage arrived and broke my water. Pitocin was increased to a level 8. By 9:25, my epidural was in. At 11:10 Pitocin was increased to a level 20 and I was dilated to a 5. The monitor was not able to pick up my contractions, so an internal monitor was put in place. At 11:50, I was checked again and was fully dilated to a 10. The doctor was called and after she arrived, I pushed through two contractions and he arrived at 12:10.
This was by far my easiest delivery. From the beginning of the IV until he arrived was only 4 hours. And I went from a 5 to a 10 in just 40 minutes. Bryce was born with a bruised face, and they said that was from coming so quickly. It went away by the second day. Bryce has been a pretty easy baby and really only cries when he is hungry or messy. Days 4 and 5 he slept 6 hours at night. He has since changed that habit, but still sleeps fairly well at night.
My recovery has also been my easiest. I haven't experienced terrible cramping or as much pain as I did with my other two births.
